Let them eat Crake

An infrequently updated monologue of links and commentary focused on practical and low-cost measures ordinary people can take to steer the society and economy of developed countries towards sustainability. One household at a time. Because only a few of us doing well eventually means all of us doing badly indeed.

Mercedes rumored to be abandoning petroleum use.

This is what leadership looks like and even this comes quite late. The total absence of any real commitment to making transportation more sustainable, whatever the motives may have been for gutting or never funding those commitments, is why Ford, GM and Chrysler will not be sustained. I have always considered the conventional automobile to be a technological dinosaur. It has seemed to me very slow in coming but the bones of those dinosaurs now begin to bleach in the sun. I have no sympathy for anyone hurt by the demise of a transportation mode and of its corporate beneficiaries when so much damage has been done to our planet by that heedless waste of resources. We have all been party to it and the party is over.
